Cyprus warns about dangerous Scania and Audi vehicles
The Cyprus Department of Road Transport has warned vehicle owners about two models of vehicles that have been included in the European rapid alert system Safety Gate as potentially dangerous.
These are Scania L, P, G, R and S series trucks manufactured between August 15, 2024 and February 27, 2026, as well as Audi Q5 passenger cars produced from July 10 to December 19, 2025.
The information was received by the Department from the Consumer Protection Service and was published in week 20 of 2026 in the European Union early warning system Safety Gate, which monitors dangerous non-food products on the European market.
The department emphasized that only vehicles with European type approval are included in the list. Detailed information on the identified risks is available on the official Safety Gate website.
The Department urged manufacturers, importers, dealers and sellers, including companies operating online, to immediately notify the authorities if the specified vehicles are present on the market of the Republic of Cyprus. If the presence of such vehicles is confirmed, companies are required to take measures to recall them in accordance with EU legislation.
Vehicle owners are advised to check their cars’ details in the registration document — in particular, the date of manufacture and model number — and, if necessary, contact the official dealer or manufacturer for further instructions.
Authorities also reminded consumers that they have the right to file a written complaint if a seller or manufacturer refuses to fulfill its obligations to recall the product or eliminate the identified defects.
