Cyprus recalls 664 SAAB cars over dangerous Takata airbags
The Cyprus Road Transport Department has announced a recall of 664 SAAB vehicles due to a Takata airbag defect that may pose a serious threat to drivers' lives.
According to the department, citing General Motors, there is a risk of the airbag inflator rupturing when it deploys. As a result, metal fragments may enter the vehicle cabin and cause severe injuries or lead to death.
Owners of vehicles included in the recall campaign are advised to contact authorized specialists as soon as possible for a free replacement of the defective component. The necessary spare parts and technical support have already been prepared.
The list of vehicles, including registration numbers and VIN codes, has been published on the official website of the Road Transport Department. In addition, registered letters and SMS notifications have been sent to owners using the contact details recorded in the department's system.
Takata airbags were previously at the center of one of the largest recall campaigns in global automotive history. Due to defective inflators, millions of vehicles of various makes were recalled worldwide.
