Sea chase near Ormidia: police fired warning shots, officer injured

The incident off the coast of Ormidia began with a suspicious vessel that refused to comply with orders to stop. A sea pursuit was launched in the area adjacent to the British Sovereign Base Area of Dhekelia.
During the chase, the situation escalated sharply: to stop the vessel and prevent further escalation, the police fired warning shots. When the boat was intercepted, one of the suspects attacked an officer of the British Bases Police, striking him with a knife and a stick.
The injured officer was taken for medical treatment — his condition is stable. The attackers were subdued and detained. An official investigation has been launched into the incident.
