Christodoulides: Meeting with UN envoy will be a continuation of the negotiation process
Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides said that the upcoming meeting with the Secretary-General of the UN’s personal envoy on the Cyprus issue, Maria Ohlon, will not be the first contact under the United Nations’ new initiative.
Speaking in Limassol and answering journalists’ questions, the head of state noted that the dialogue on the Cyprus settlement has already been continuing since the Brussels meeting and includes a series of consultations taking place ahead of Ohlon’s official visit.
According to Christodoulides, negotiations and contacts will continue after the UN special envoy arrives on the island. He stressed that the June 8 meeting will be part of a broader diplomatic process initiated by the UN Secretary-General.
The president did not disclose details of the upcoming discussions, but made it clear that the sides continue working to advance dialogue on the Cyprus problem.
