TRNC Launches Healthcare Quality System Cooperation Project
A new initiative has been launched in Northern Cyprus to define and implement quality standards in healthcare services. This joint project involves the Ministry of Health of the TRNC and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey.
The meeting addressing the quality of healthcare services in Northern Cyprus was organized by the Turkish Institute of Quality and Accreditation in Healthcare Services. During the opening, the Deputy Minister of Health of the TRNC shared that the training process on the quality system had begun as a result of legal studies that spanned two and a half years.
The project is aimed at improving patient and healthcare worker safety, minimizing errors, ensuring procedures are carried out according to established guidelines, and auditing healthcare institutions. The integration of this system into TRNC hospitals and medical centers is expected to create a safer environment for both patients and healthcare professionals.
“We will provide full support for initiating quality research in the healthcare sector in the TRNC,” said the Advisor to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey at the meeting.
On-site training will continue starting today, with the first phase focusing on standards for the safety of pharmaceuticals and intensive care.
Additionally, the draft law defining quality and standards in healthcare is currently under review in the parliament. The work on the bill was finalized during a session last week, and it is expected to be approved by the relevant parliamentary committee in the coming days.
