While Europe Melts in the Heat, Northern Cyprus Enjoys a Perfect May
While Western and Southern Europe are literally groaning under a powerful «heat dome» at the end of May, Northern Cyprus is in the most advantageous position. The island is currently enjoying unusually comfortable, mild and even slightly cool weather — around +25…+29°C, and meteorologists are even forecasting refreshing holiday rains. Locals and expats are joking on social media that this year the Mediterranean and Central Europe have finally swapped places.
Meanwhile, the situation on the continent is close to critical: the hottest May on record is being recorded there. In the United Kingdom, temperatures have soared to a record +34°C, triggering wildfires; in Germany, heat of up to +35°C has caused a shortage of drinking water; and in Italy and Spain, forecasts of up to +38°C and exhausting «tropical nights» have already led to a legal ban on outdoor work during the hottest part of the day.
Meanwhile, in Northern Cyprus, one can genuinely enjoy the local climate. While Europeans are taking shelter under air conditioners and saving water, our island continues to enjoy a perfect, prolonged spring season, allowing people to relax outdoors in complete comfort without being worn down by the usual summer heat.
