Karpas Protection Association Urges Residents to Remain Vigilant Amid Fire Risk
The head of the Karpas Protection Association, Dursun Chebi, issued an official appeal to citizens in connection with the onset of summer heat. The environmental activist stressed that the risk of fires has sharply increased in the TRNC in forested areas, as well as in fields where wheat and barley are currently ripening.
The association strongly urges residents and tourists visiting the Karpas region to completely refrain from lighting open-air fires, not to hold picnics in unregulated areas, and strictly prohibits throwing cigarette butts out of car windows. Chebi reminded that negligence on hot days could lead to an environmental disaster on the protected peninsula.
